Spiritual
Catholic High
offers a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and
community building through liturgy, curriculum, retreats, and
Campus Ministry.
All experiences are intended to invite the students to deepen
their faith rooted in the way of Christ in the Catholic tradition.
Liturgy
Each
week the school gathers for liturgy, prayer and worship. Services
are geared toward student participation and reflection in the
spirit of the Second Vatican Council. In addition to liturgy,
students have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of
Reconciliation through private confession or communal penance
services that are held during the school year. After-school prayer
services facilitated by Campus Ministry give students the chance
to experience communal prayer with their peers outside of school
liturgies. Students serve as musicians, choir, cantors, lectors,
Eucharistic ministers, and assembly as they meet Jesus Christ in
the liturgy. Worship and prayer are important parts of student
life at Catholic High.
Curriculum and Retreats

Students are required to take four years of religion and
participate in a yearly retreat experience.
Religion courses help
the student explore the scriptures, morality, church history,
social justice, and many other faith topics rooted in the Catholic
tradition. Each yearly retreat focuses on a different aspect of
student spiritual life and is designed for each specific grade
level. These experiences invite the students to deepen their
relationship with God, others, and themselves as they journey
through the Christian life.
A Prayer for Students
Lord, we thank You for blessing each of our children with the
precious gift of one mind that they may choose You freely. Please
guide our children's minds to learn Your Word so they may spread
the good news. We thank You for giving them one heart that they
may love You completely. Please fill their hearts with love and
gratitude for You and develop their unique and individual gifts to
honor You. We thank You for giving them one soul, that they may be
examples of Your goodness. We ask Your blessing on their souls
that they may fulfill their destiny in whatever profession You
lead them. We thank Your, Lord, that You have given them one body,
that they may use their talents to bring You glory. Lord, help
them remember that the body is a temple of God that needs to be
protected and nourished.
Let our young people reach their full potential and
bring You glory through their spiritual life, their academics,
their sports, and their creative arts.
Lord, may our church and school communities be bound by
love. May our hearts be filled with the love and desire to do your
will always, and may we continue to express our gratitude for the
gift of Catholic High School. We ask this in Jesus' name. -Amen |
