HOW TO SAVE THE MICROSOFT WORD DATA SHEET TEMPLATE

Select appropriate Microsoft Word Version from table below.

Microsoft Word is opened and the associated reading template file displayed.

Select the "File" tab and then the "Save As" tab. -
Browse to the Microsoft Word "Templates" folder.

Set file type to "Document Template (*.dot)"

Set filename to "reading.dot" or other filename with ".dot" extension.

Select the "Save" tab.
The templates folder is typically either "c:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Templates" or
"c:\msoffice\Templates".
When creating a new document, use this template.

Warning!!! If the reading template file is displayed as a sequence of unrecognizable characters then you selected a template file with a format incompatible with the version of Microsoft Word on your computer. Start again and select another Microsoft Word version.
Warning!!! For the file transfer to process successfully, the ".dot" file type must be associated with
Microsoft Word. This association can be reviewed and set by opening Internet
Explorer, selecting the "Options..." tab, then the "File Types" tab, and then entering the Word association for the ".dot" file type. The association should be the same as the association for the ".doc" file type.
Note!!! Open Microsoft Word then select the "Help" tab and then the "About Microsoft Word" tab to review the version of Microsoft Word on your computer.
Note!!! The Template folder location associated with Microsoft Word can be reviewed and modified by opening MS Word, selecting the "Tools" tab, then the "Options" tab, and then the "File Locations" tab.
